Profile

Yan Bu, male, from Hefei, Anhui Province, is an Associate Professor (with a tenure-track appointment) at the School of Economics and Management, Harbin Engineering University. He is a master’s thesis advisor and has participated in a joint PhD program with Dalian University of Technology and the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. He is a member of the Ecological Environment System Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, as well as a council member of the Energy Economics and Management Research Division of the Chinese Association of Optimization, Overall Planning Methods and Economic Mathematics. His research focuses on energy economics and environmental policy, resource and environmental management, and digital inclusive finance for green development.

He has led or participated in three national-level projects, including one as the principal investigator for a National Natural Science Foundation project, one for the Heilongjiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Research Planning Project, and four other projects. He has also been a key participant (ranking first) in two National Social Science Foundation projects. Over the years, he has published nearly 20 academic papers in SCI/SSCI journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment Review, International Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Marine Policy. Among these, he is the first or corresponding author on 11 papers (including one ESI Highly Cited Paper) and serves as a reviewer for several SCI/SSCI journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics (FT50).

Dr. Bu has conducted research visits to top global institutions, including the Technical University of Dresden in Germany, the National University of Singapore, and City University of Hong Kong. He was invited to present at the 2018 International Conference on Clean Energy and Electrical Systems (CEES 2018) in Vancouver, Canada, and the 2022 ENERDAY - 16th International Conference on Energy Economics and Technology in Dresden, Germany. He has received numerous honors, including the CSC scholarship for the National High-Level University Graduate Program and recognition as an Outstanding Graduate (PhD) in Liaoning Province.

Additionally, he has earned a Second Prize for Teaching Achievements for Undergraduates at Harbin Engineering University. He has guided undergraduate and graduate students in various academic competitions, winning several national and provincial awards. As an undergraduate mentor, he has successfully supervised students in publishing multiple academic papers in international high-level journals (SCI/SSCI) and has helped his mentees gain admission to top-tier 985 universities in China, including Tsinghua University.
